Civil Court has issued two court orders to the Maldives Police Service to implement the order signed by the Director of General Health, Maimoona Abubakr to collect samples from two people to give samples for COVID-19 testing.

While the orders from the Court were issued last night, the court did not name the two people who refused to give samples.

Aside from testing those with potential symptoms of the illness and those that have come in contact with them, Health Protection Agency (HPA) have set up in parts of Male’ City and Hulhumale’ for random sample collection from both pedestrians and motorists.

Latest statistics on COVID-19 in the Maldives shows that ten more people recovered from the illness yesterday raising the total recoveries in the country to 1839.

A total of 2260 people have tested positive in the Maldives so far but only 408 people are now in treatment with only eight people deceased due to the illness; they are four Bangladeshi nationals and four elderly locals.
