Tourism Minister Ali Waheed has stated that most flights that operate to the Maldives will resume once again in August.
Speaking at the NEOC press conference tonight, Minister Ali Waheed said that 11 airlines have booked spaced to resume flights even before the date to reopen the borders was announced.
He said that they were in discussion with the airlines that operated to the Maldives before the lock down and most airlines will be resuming flight operation in July while the remaining airlines would resume in August with three flight slots set for 15 July.
The Tourism Minister said that the airport is ready to open for tourism and the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has guaranteed that a flight can be landed and cleared every 20 minutes.
Minister Waheed said that the services would be improved in the three weeks once the borders are reopened.
