The cabinet ministers met this afternoon at the President's Office, to discuss further easing the restrictive measures in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The discussions focused on the ongoing preparations to reopen the Maldives' borders and welcome tourists from July 15th onward. The Cabinet also discussed the adjustments that all residents must make to their daily lives, as the country moves towards a 'new normal'.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had previously revealed that the Maldives will reopen its borders for tourism on July 15th, with which resorts will once again be permitted to open as well. Government offices, cafes and restaurants are expected to reopen next month as well.
