Speaker of the Parliament, the former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that his government was overthrown on the same day, 7 February 2012, where the report on the secret oil trade worth USD 800 million between STO Singapore and MOCON, was to be released.

Taking part in the debate of the case presented to the parliament floor accusing the former President, Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik of buying the report of the secret oil trade from the investigation company and hiding it, the former President, Nasheed said that after the government changed in 2008 and his government came into power, a Singapore company named Grant Thorton International.

He said that the company was hired to pay ten percent of the recovered money if their work recovers it. And it was agreed that if the government orders them to stop investigating, the government would have to pay them ten million to them.

Former President Nasheed said his government was overthrown on the day the report was to be released and then Vice President, Dr. Waheed, ordered the company to stop the investigation.
