Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abdulla Fairoosh has said that the nation is still dealing with a pandemic and this is not the time for protest rallies.
He made the statement in a tweet following the protest near the parliament this morning.
“This isn’t the time to organise demonstrations. So, please don’t gather in groups of more than 3 people.” The Assistant Commissioner’s tweet said.
He also said that the Maldives Police Service ask to express public concerns and support in another way other than gathering on the streets.
Two separate protest rallies took place near the parliament this morning, one organized by Navaanavai in front of the parliament gate and another soon after protesting the new Police Bill.
