Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has started the Vaavu Atoll Rakeedhoo harbor project.

MTCC said that the materials for the project was sent to Rakeedhoo on Friday and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was approved last December.

The project entails digging an area of 5645 cubic meters for a deep harbor, a 156-meter outer sea wall, 74 meters of revetment, 16 meters of inner sea wall along with the installation of eight mooring bouys, right harbor lights and two port lights according to MTCC. At completion, Rakeedhoo harbor would have a five-meter-wide pavement on the harbor.

The project worth MVR 18.5 million was contracted to MTCC on 1 October 2019.
