MP for Meedhoo constituency, Rozaina Adam, has said that the officers of the Maldives Police Service needs more adequate training to handle cases of domestic abuse and child abuse.

In response to a tweet from the Police to announce structural changes, MP Rozaina said that the public does not see officers giving full attention in dealing with domestic and child abuse cases in the atolls.

The MP said that officers who deal with such cases need to be those who work with an interest and sensitive to the cases and asked to make sure these officers have the adequate training.

Rozaina also said that it is important to train officers working in district departments as well. She said that the care for the people going into report cases are mostly lacking which in turn causes to lose evidence needed for the cases.
