Committee report passed to address damages to Addu City during rainstorm

Parliament has passed the Committee Report on the aspects of addressing the damages to Addu City during the recent rainstorms.

The report submitted by the Parliament Committee noted that there are six points that needed to be addressed in order to recover from said damages.

This includes a police investigation into the sacks that were tied to the water drainage pipelines in Feydhoo, implementing a system to bring about a long term solution to the issue that recurs each year with monsoons, assisting the residents affected by the rainfall in filling out the necessary documents in order to receive compensation, as well as the Addu City council and National Disaster Management Authority submitting the said documents to relevant authorities in order to secure the compensation at the soonest.

In addition to this, the provision of drainage pumps to islands that lack them are also to be facilitated by the authorities.
