President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has renamed Planning Ministry to Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure following the resignation of former Housing Minister.

The President's Office revealed that the Planning Ministry has been renamed after the Housing Ministry was dissolved by the President.

Staff previously employed at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development will be transferred to the newly named Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

Aminath Athifa made the decision to resign from the post of Housing Minister in light of poor health rendering her unable to perform the duties required of a cabinet portfolio. The former Minister had shared details of her health condition with the President prior to making her decision.
