Maldives on Tuesday announced 85 new COVID-19 recoveries bringing the total number of active cases lower than the total number of recovered cases for the first time.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that with another 85 people in treatment recovering from the illness, the total recoveries in the country has risen to 1010.

In the past 24 hours, 26 new cases have been confirmed raising the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 1942 with 922 active cases. And so, the number of recovered patients has exceeded the number of patients currently in treatment.

So far, eight people have passed away due to the illness; they are four Bangladeshi nationals and four elderly locals.
