Foreign Ministry has revealed that works to repatriate Maldivians in Sri Lanka who wish to return back will begin on June 10th.

The Ministry revealed that in the first flight operated by Sri Lankan Airlines, Maldivians who travelled to Lanka for medical purposes will return along with Maldivians tourists, students who have finished their studies, those who wish to return for medical reasons as well as others who wish to return due to their current situation,

They added that chances will be given to others depending on flight capacity.

Foreign Ministry also highlighted that since limited seating is available, all those who wish to return may not get the chance but assured that more flights will be arranged in the future.

The Ministry stressed that the Maldivian government is working to bring back Maldivians stuck in other countries as well and that changing rules in countries as the COVID-19 pandemic progress is being taken into consideration.

Maldivians returning from abroad will be subjected to quarantine as decided by the HPA.
