Maldivian President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that the his government will continue protecting the natural environment and its biodiversity.
The President made the statement in a Tweet he sent out today in conjunction with the World Environment Day being celebrated today.
In his tweet, President Solih said that as the nation emerge from the COVID-19 crisis, it is paramount that we make the protection of the "earth’s natural environment and its biodiversity key aspects of our efforts to build anew."
“My Government will continue our advocacy for nature for our common future.” President Solih said.
This year’s theme for the Environment Day is Time for Nature with a highlight on biodiversity and creating awareness on the different environmental challenges across the world. The United Nations have been celebrating the World Environment Day for the past 46 years.
