Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed has said that over 21,000 permits were issued in the past 12 hours for economic activities.

The Commissioner made the statement on Twitter today.

In his tweet, Commissioner Hameed said that a total of 21,653 permits were approved to various individuals from 1,927 business entities. The permits are part of the COVID-19 lock down ease in the Male’ Area.

Police also approved 1,826 new individuals on streets of Greater Male’ within the same time period according to the Commissioner.

Following the first phase of ease to the lock down, a number of businesses that were previously denied the permit to operate during the lock down have now been approved along with a special permit for the elderly to leave the house during certain hours.

The ease also now allows up to three people per household to go out at a time and the shopping duration have been extended from one hour to two hours.
