Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has said that the banks in the country will be opening three time a week from 1 June.

A statement issued by the MMA said that banking services are essential during this time. And although MMA is opening as well, it would not be open to the general public.

MMA said that the banks will be opened from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

As part of the government efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 in the Maldives, the government offices were closed on 19 March.

The central bank and the other banks in the country was decided to be reopened as part of the first phase of the government lock down ease. And so, a number of businesses were allowed to reopen starting from today.
