Maldivian Foreign Ministry has said that 26 Maldivians who got stuck in Thailand when the global lock down hit due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be returning to the country tonight.
The Ministry said that these people will be returning on the national airline flight, Maldivian, that left for Thailand this morning. And so, all 26 people will be completing a 14-day quarantine upon their return according to the Foreign Ministry.
While various nations have been brought under lock down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of Maldivian nationals are still stuck at those countries and the Maldivian government is working to arrange their return.
So far, Maldivian nationals in India, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Ukraine have returned to the country. As per procedure, every person returning from abroad have to complete 14 days in mandatory quarantine.
