Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer has stated that there is no shortage of foreign currency as of yet and added that plans are being tailor-made to ensure that such a shortage will not occur during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking during a press conference, Minister Ameer said that the Gross Reserve has USD 800 million while Usable Reserve has USD 231 million in them as of now and that they were working to make sure that no shortage of foreign currency would occur in the Maldives in the near future.
Minister Ameer said that fundraising is ongoing with the inclusion of selling Samurai Bonds worth USD 300 million. He also added that through various works USD 290 million have already been acquired.
He assured that there would be no shortages of foreign currency in the future as well.
