A proposal have been made to open authorized resorts under the new normal next month and included in the Safe Tourism Guideline draft.
Private jets, charter flights and super yachts will be authorized next month under the guideline.
It states that the guesthouses in the country will be authorized to open in August while commercial flights will be resuming on 1 July 2020. However, the dates are subject to change based on the situation.
According to the Safe Tourism Guideline draft, a landing fee of USD 50,000 will be charged from private jets and chartered flights and the super yachts will be charged USD 10,000 to enter the Maldivian border.
Under the new normal, cruise ships will not be allowed to enter the Maldives until notified otherwise.
As for the guesthouses, a Safe Tourism License would have to be acquired from their Council Offices of their respective constituency. And tourists can only travel from the airports to guesthouses after getting the result of their PCR test.
During the New Normal, instructions from health officials must be followed.
