The number of patients who show symptoms of COVID-19 has now reached 61 percent.

It was announced at the NEOC press conference that the number of cases that does show symptoms are higher than those that do not. And so, as of 8:30 p.m., 1058 cases were entered with a 61 percent of cases showing symptoms that is 648 cases. The remaining 39 percent that does not show symptoms consist of 410 cases.

At the NEOC press conference on 6 May, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal said that a high number of COVID-19 cases in the country does not show symptoms which would mean a large portion of the population could have COVID-19 and not show symptoms. And implied that there would be people who would recover without ever knowing that they had the illness.

So far, 1078 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives and in the past 24 hours, 58 new cases were found that includes 27 locals, 25 Bangladeshi nationals, four Indian nationals and two Nepalese nationals.
