Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has started clearing the roads of the trees that fell during the torrential rain in Male’ City today.
MNDF said that trees fell near the Henveiru cemetery, Maaveyo Magu, VOM area and the Vilimale’ ferry terminal area.
With strong winds, the roofs of some builds are affected as well and MNDF is providing assistance at those buildings as well including the STO flour storage and Sallige in the Galolhu district.
Maldives Meteorological Center said that the Southwest Monsoon is going to pick up and so a large portion of the country will be affected by rain in the next five days.
MET Office said that strong winds and heavy rain with thunderstorms are expected across the country for the next five days. And while seas are expected to be rough, some islands may have swell waves during high tide.
