The total COVID-19 recoveries in the Maldives has reached 40 with 8 new recoveries being reported today.
Speaking during a press conference at the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC), Dr Ibrahim Afzal said that all 08 recoveries are Maldivian patients. So far 24 Maldivians and 16 foreigners have recovered from COVID-19 in the Maldives.
A recovery is determined after two tests return as negative. The tests are carried out 14 days after the virus is found in most cases.
Dr Afzal had previously stated that the rate of recovery is different for every person and that the rate seems to be longer in Maldives compared to others.
