National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) Spokesperson Mabrook Azeez has said that when the new machines that are being procured are put to work, it will allow up to 1,000 tests a day.
Speaking at the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) press conference tonight, Mabrook said that the current testing facilities in the country requires a lot of manual processing and so a lot of lab technicians.
He said that the new machines being brought in to increase testing capacity mostly has an automated process which would increase sampling to over a 1000 a day as well.
Mabrook said that the 25,000 cartridges for the gene expert machines that are being imported this month is going to increase the testing capacity significantly.
Currently, the daily COVID-19 testing capacity in the country between 300-350.
