National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) Spokesperson, Mabrouk Azeez has stated that the government has begun developing the regulations for a new normal.
Speaking at the NEOC press conference, Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Abdul Aziz said that the government plans to implement the “new normal” in phases.
He said that teams are identifying the strategic areas and establishing actions for each area separately. And the details of which will be released in the coming days after a full draft of the activities is finalized.
Regarding the matter. Dr. Ibrahim Afzal said that SOP and information for the public are being prepared now as well and that will include instructions for the institutes and the public in the “new normal”.
At the evening press conference, Tourism Minister, Ali Waheed said that the “new normal” is estimated to be implemented around July or October through which the Maldivian borders will be opened.
The Tourism Minister said that the regulations of the new normal has been sent to the President’s Office.
So far, 862 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives and 31 people have made a recovery. However, two locals and a Bangladeshi national have passed away due to complications with the illness.
