Dr. Ibraim Afzal has stated that from the patients positive to COVID-19, 39 have no contacts with any existing clusters.

Speaking at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) press conference, Dr. Afzal said that there re 39 people who has tested positive for COVID-19 without a connection any known clusters but the people they have been in contact have been identified.

Dr. Afzal said that if there are people testing positive with no connection to clusters, it indicated that the illness is spreading in different areas of the community and a challenge to controlling it.

He said that most of the people who tests positive for the illness does not show any symptoms.

While 545 people have tested positive in the Maldives, most of them are expatriates in the country.
