President Ibrahim Mohamed Soilih has stated that health experts predict a rise in COVID-19 cases for the next two weeks.
Addressing the nation in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the President noted that while countries who have already gone through the difficulties of a lockdown for weeks on end now prepare to revert back to a slightly normal everyday life, Maldives is preparing to overcome the current situation in order to resume economic activities and a normal life at the soonest possible.
However he noted that health experts predict the situation to worsen in the next two weeks, especially in the capital city, Male'.
He further added that even though more people are testing positive right now, the spread of the disease is under control and noted that health workers still remain rather hopeful.
