Dr. Ibrahim Afzal has stated that the majority of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives are recovering without showing any major symptoms.

Speaking at the NEOC press conference, Dr. Afzal said that only a few people who have tested positive in the Maldives had to be treated in critical care and many are recovering with no major symptoms.

He said that the illness has the most effect on the elderly and those with chronic illnesses along with pregnant women and children under the age of five. And if such a person is tested positive, they have to be treated with special care.

While 519 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives, 18 people have recovered while an 83-year-old woman has passed away.
