Eight more positive cases in the Maldives have brought the total number of infections to 277.

Talking at the NEOC press conference today, Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Abdul Aziz said that 27 new cases were found in the past 24 hours.

And so, the total number of cases in the Maldives have gone up to 277; 125 locals and 152 foreigners. While two of the people who tested positive for COVID-19 in the country are currently abroad, 17 people have recovered from the illness in the Maldives.

A nation-wide lock down has been in effect since the first reported case of COVID-19 in the Maldivian capital on 15 April 2020.
