With the announcement of four new cases of COVID-19, the total number of infections in the Maldives have now risen to 249.

Speaking during a press conference at the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC), Spokesperson Mabrouk Azeez revealed that over 7,000 samples have already been collected.

With this, the total number of new cases today have risen to 21. Among the first reported 17 cases included 9 Bangladeshis, 4 Indians and 4 Maldivians.

The first COVID-19 case in Male' City was reported on April 15th. Since then, the entire country has been placed on a lockdown as a safety measure.
