Maldives Police Service have arrested nine people and fined 122 for violating the lockdown regulations today.

Speaking at a press conference held at the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) tonight, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ismail Naveen said that nine people were arrested for disobeying orders from the police in regards to the lock down.

The Assistance Commissioner said that 4489 permits have been issued so far as delivery permits with 136 permits issued just today.

He said that the Male’ City has been divided to 26 zones and only 65 people can be out from each day and the permit issuing portal will be giving out 65 permits only. And each person can go out for one hour allocated by the permit between 9 a.m. and 12 a.m.

Police said that the time on the permit can be changed to a more convenient time by calling 1665.

So far 214 cases have been confirmed in the Maldives while 17 people have recovered and 73 people were tested positive for the illness today alone.
