Spokesperson of the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC), Mohamed Mabrook Abdul Aziz has advised not to talk in a way that the doctors who are working without any rest could lose their spirit.
In response to claims that some senior officials of the government along with a handful of institutions have been trying to avoid working in preventing COVID-19, Mabrook said that the response to COVID-19 is a joint effort of all state institutions and ministries. As such he noted that the NEOC is lead by the HPA and NDMA which falls under MNDF and the Health Ministry.
He stressed that the entire operation of NEOC is based on instructions from the doctors and public care professionals and assured that all steps are taken with their advise.
Mabrook also highlighted that criticising the government for any failure or misstep during a pandemic like this is perfectly okay but added that talking badly about the doctors and spreading false rumors about them and their work is unacceptable.
While there are over 900 doctors and over 2000 doctors in the Maldives, 55 per cent of them have been mobilized for the COVID-19 response. Doctors and nurses are constantly working in the front line to contain the infection.
