Kulhudhuffushi City Council has decided to fine the people who violate the curfew in the city amid the COVID-19, with an amount between MVR 500 to 5000.

The Kulhudhuffushi Council said that a curfew was announced in the city yesterday as per the decision of the COVID-19 Task Force to prevent the spread of the illness further in the city. The Council said that the Director General of Public Health has authorized the council to stop public gatherings and enforce physical distancing based on potential of a community spread.

During the curfew, a special permit is required for the members of the general public to be out on the streets and those who violate the curfew will face a fine between MVR 500 to 5000 according to the Kulhudhuffushi Council.

The Council has called on the public for their cooperation in controlling the spread of the illness and take it as a national responsibility.

While a person who tested positive for COVID-19 had stopped in Kulhudhuffushi and had direct contact in the city, the city was locked down yesterday until 24 April.
