Dr Ibrahim Afzal has revealed that a MNDF soldier is among those who tested positive to COVID-19 in Male' City today.
Speaking during a press conference today, the doctor noted that Case 69 is a MNDF soldier.
National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) Spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez noted that contact tracing is now ongoing to establish how the soldier had contracted the virus.
He also added that it is unclear whether the soldier is a frontline worker or exactly which department the soldier works in. He assured that those information would be shared as soon as they learn about them.
He further added that PPE has been provided to frontline workers as much as possible with them being encouraged to use them at all times during work. Separate accommodation has also been arranged for frontline workers.
A total of 83 cases of COVID-19 has been found in the Maldives so far.
