Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Abdulla Shahid has sent a message of condolence to François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada following the shootings in Nova Scotia.
In his message, Minister Shahid said that he was deeply shocked and devastated to learn of the mass shootings in Nova Scotia which caused the tragic loss of innocent lives and injuries to many.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, and on my own behalf, I convey profound sympathies to the families of those affected and wish the wounded a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Government and the people of Canada, at this time of distress." The Foreign Minister’s message said.
The 51-year-old gunman had killed 18 people, including a police constable, a corrections officer, a nurse and a teacher in a span of 12 hours. The motive behind the shooting, one of Canada's deadliest, is under investigation.
