Dr Nazla Rafeeq has stated that the number of COVID-19 infections in the Maldives will be relatively low if the lockdown continues as it is.
Speaking during a press conference at the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC), Dr Nazla said that most of the contacts identified through positive cases work in big companies with large groups of people. Hence she noted that the lockdown will reduce the meetings an individual has with such a case which in turn reduces the number of contacts for each positive case.
Dr Nazla also noted that some of the cases identified after the lockdown started showing symptoms only a couple days before and that contacts for such cases have been stood at a low since the lockdown in Male' City began.
So far 945 people have been identified through contact tracing.
