Spokesperson for the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), Mohamed Mabrook Abdul Aziz has said that the Hithadhoo Regional Hospital in Addu City is going to be transformed into a specialist hospital for COVID-19 patients.

Speaking during a press conference today Mabrook noted that Hithadhoo Regional Hospital is being turned into a specialist hospital for COVID-19 without bringing any major structural changes.

He added that arrangements are being made to house 23 ICU beds and 22 isolation bedsa, The hospital will be used as a specialist center for COVID-19 only after transferring the remaining patients.

Mabrook also shut down the rumour that Addu was low on PPE. He noted that additional equipment will always be sent out before existing stock runs out.
