A Maldivian in Haa Alif Atoll Uligan has tested positive to COVID-19.

Council Mayor Ahmed Muaz Mohamed revealed that the Health Center and the patient has now been informed of this.

Muaz further added that contact tracing for the case is ongoing and that necessary steps are being taken by the island council. According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA) there are no known links to existing clusters.

The patient is now being transferred to an isolation facility.

With this, the total positive cases in the Maldives have now climbed up to 52.
