Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture has said that fishermen can still go fishing during the lock down but they cannot disembark on the islands they go to sell the fishing.
The Ministry said that vessels are to return to their originating island and are not permitted to go to any other island. And further information on the regulation of fishing vessels will be provided by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) which should be followed accordingly.
Talking to One Online regarding the matter, the Spokesperson of the National Emergency Operation Center, Mohamed Mabrook Abdul Aziz, said that fishermen has to follow the instructions of the HPA as they are provided now.
And so, fishermen are not allowed to disembark on any other island including the islands they go to weigh and sell the fish.
After a community spread of COVID-19, the whole country was put under lock down restricting movement between the islands.
