Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has said that their daily waste collection would resume today and during the lock down in the Male’ area, the collection would be between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
They have also requested that all waste be brought to the ground floor except those under quarantine.
Speaking at the press conference regarding their services today, the Operation Manager of WAMCO, Shan, said that WAMCO operations were suspended after the Male’ City went on lock down after the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in the city. However, today, their daily collection service will resume.
And so, waste collection from businesses and offices will be taking place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the waste collection from households will be taking place from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
He said that all households should safely bring out waste on to the street.
Shan said that current waste collection cannot take away furniture and refrigerators that are being disposed. And sharp disposables such as knives and glass must be wrapped in paper.
He also said that the WAMCO collection staff will be working as to not touch door knobs and so it is advisable to bring out the waste during the allocated time.
