"One Online" has learnt that the second patient to test positive to Covid-19 in Male' City is the two year child of the first patient who tested positive.

While the first case of Covid-19 was found in Male' City today, HPA had revealed that the patient who tested positive first has no recent travel histories nor any known contact with a positive patient. The contact tracing process is ongoing currently.

The husband of the first patient to test positive has also been tested, though his results are not out yet while the child of the first patient has now tested positive as well.

While two Maldivians have tested positive in the capital city, HPA has also issued a 24-hour lockdown of the Greater Male’ Region. The city is also currently under a red alert.

The alert was issued after the spread of Covid-19 among people with no travel histories.

A research by HPA also noted that if the Maldives went into a community spread, thousands would be infected with great many deaths as well.
