A second Maldivian has tested positive for Covid-19 in Male' City.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirmed the news in a tweet on Wednesday night. They noted that the samples taken from a Maldivian national who was a Direct Contact of the positive case has tested positive, making it the second case to be confirmed in Male' City.

The person is currently in an Isolation Facility. It is the 7th Maldivian to test positive for the disease.]

While two Maldivians have tested positive in the capital city, HPA has also issued a 24-hour lockdown of the Greater Male’ Region. The city is also currently under a red alert. The alert was issued after the spread of Covid-19 among people with no travel histories.

HPA had previously revealed that the patient who tested positive first has no recent travel histories nor any known contact with a positive patient. Samples from 11 people identified through contact tracing has been collected while additional people have been placed under home isolation and quarantine.

They also revealed that that H. Raiykuredhi 4th floor (Malé) and Noomasvaadhee, S. Hithadhoo has been placed under monitoring following contact tracing procedures of the Maldivian who tested positive for COVID-19 in Malé City today.
