Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameedh has revealed that they have not identified a terrorist threat to the Maldives during the current situation.

CP Hameedh made the announcement while speaking during a press conference tonight. He however did note that even though there was no active threat, there are people who still support such actions in our society.

The Commissioner however did note that due to the steps taken by the police to combat religious extremism in the Maldives, certain people still are in a revengeful mindset towards security forces.

He also noted that since the start of the pandemic small and general crime rate has dropped even though organised crime is still ongoing. As such he highlighted robberies that are thought out and planned by groups.
