The President's Office has said that the President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is set to address the nation after the afternoon Asr Prayers today.

The President is set to address the nation after a COVID-19 case has been confirmed in the Maldivian capital.

Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Ibrahim Hoodh confirmed that the President will be addressing the nation after the Asr Prayers but did not offer any further information.

Meanwhile, after the confirmed case in Male’ City, the entire capital has been put under lock down by the Health Protection Agency (HPA).

A statement from the HPA today signed by the Director General of Public Health, Maimoona Abubakr said that the capital is being put under lock down for 24 hours, effective from 2:30 p.m. and has banned people from the street along with the suspension of public transportation.
