Quarantine period for all those who have completed their 14 day quarantine at the Eriyadhoo Quarantine Facility has been extended after a Maldivian at the facility had tested positive for Covid-19.

The Maldivian who had tested positive in the facility had recently returned from Phillipines. The patient tested positive after a test upon the completion of the 14 day quarantine period, and had not shown any symptoms at all during that time.

Covid-19 Spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez noted that the TAG Team has decided to extend the quarantine period for those who are to be released upon completion of their period. Discussion on further action is ongoing according to him.

Samples from 17 others have now been taken from the facility after developing Covid-19 like symptoms.
