Covid-19 Spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez has revealed that Kuredu Island Resort is under an Orange Alert due to the spread of Covid-19 from an infected person.

Speaking during a press conference, Mabrouq noted that the island will be under a quarantine for a period of 28 days.

Since some in the island contracted the virus from someone who was positive, the island will remain under a mandatory quarantine according to Mabrouq.

The highest number of Covid-19 cases in the Maldives were found in Kuredu. A tourist who was staying at the resort had tested positive after returning home.
