National airline Maldivian has revealed that they are holding special flights to Cohin in India and Colombo in Sri Lanka to evacuate Maldivians in these countries.

The airline revealed on Twitter that two flights will operate to Colombo tomorrow and one from Cochin will operate on Monday. Those who would like to register are requested to share details such as passport copies and personal contact through their viber.

Public Relations and Communications Manager for Maldivian, Moosa Waseem revealed to "One" that after assessing the number of registered passengers, additional flights will be planned accordingly after ongoing discussions.

A media official for the foreign ministry had also previously noted that should the situation in a country with many Maldivians deteriorate, discussions will continue on how to evacuate them.

Due to the measures taken to control Covid-19, many Maldivians in Sri Lanka has been facing difficulties in finding essentials such as food.
