Ten tonnes of cargo has been brought in to the Maldives from Thailand today.

Speaking during a press conference last night, Covid-19 Spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez noted that the cargo shipment included food items such as vegetables as well as essential medicine along with shipments of some businesses.

While 10 tonnes of cargo has been brought from Thailand, national airline Maldivian had also recently transported 10 tonnes of cargo from Sri Lanka to the Maldives. Their cargo flight is also expected to fly to four different destinations in addition to Sri Lanka. As such, a cargo flight is scheduled for Wednesday to India's Trivandrum and Chennai while a flight is scheduled on Thursday to Bangkok.

Amid the ongoing global Covid-19 pandemic, Maldives has banned all inbound passenger flights.
