Maldives Transport Authority has said that cargo can be transported across the bridge 24 hours a day until the schools are re-opened.
The announcement made by the Transport Authority yesterday said that 2-ton vehicles can carry cargo across the bridge until the schools are re-opened. And vehicles above 2-tons can travel between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. The schools across the country were closed indefinitely amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Previously, the transport of cargo across the bridge between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. were banned by the Transport authority.
Until the schools re-open, Transport Authority have also granted the permission for cargo transport in Male’ City at all hours. Except during the original rush hours of time schools start and end.
The Transport Authority said that all categories of vehicles can carry wholesale wood, steel, gravel, gravel sand, glass, cement and construction blocks between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
