Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that a second Maldivian to returned from the UK has tested positive for Covid-19.

According to HPA, the positive patient is at the Royal Island Resort Quarantine Facility. As per HPA regulations, all inbound passengers except tourists will have to go through a 14 day quarantine at a facility decided by the state.

With this, the amount of positive cases in the Maldives have now increased to two. All two are Maldivians who returned from the UK while another Maldivian living in the UK has also tested positive.

As of now there are 17 confirmed cases in the Maldives while 11 of them have recovered and 2 departed to Italy.
