Wife of a Maldivian doctor working in the United Kingdom has tested positive for Covid-19.
The doctor who works at the National Health Service in the UK revealed in a Facebook post that his wife tested positive for Covid-19 last Tuesday, after developing flu like symptoms. He further said that the couple is now in self-isolation at their home, and that the condition of his wife is improving.
He also highlighted that for the past two weeks he had been attending Covid-19 patients and that mild flu symptoms are also present with him, which is why it is suspected that he may have exposed his wife to the virus.
However it is not confirmed whether he had tested positive to the virus or not.
A family member of the doctor revealed that he had traveled to the UK for studies and settled there since. It has been about 10 years since the family has been living in the UK, all of whom are now UK citizens.
The family also revealed that even though the doctor has been exhibiting symptoms, a test has not been possible due to self isolation. However he is still attending to patients online.
While a Maldivian in UK has tested positive, a 38 year old Maldivian who returned from the UK on March 22nd has also tested positive for the virus. The patient was found positive after a test as the patient showed symptoms during quarantine.
