Government has decided to delay rent payments for social housing units by six months amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking during a press conference, Covid-19 Spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez noted that rent payments for schemes by Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Housing Ministry has been delayed by six months.

Mabrouq also noted that those who wish to continue regular payments can do so. He requested to call either 3334666 or 3000112 to clarify additional details.

The government has been taking many steps to ensure an easier time for the public during the Covid-19 pandemic. As such, Bank of Maldives loan repayments for Personal, Housing and Business loans have also been delayed by six months.
