President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that the Maldives is currently under a lockdown and that a bigger lockdown will not happen.
He made the statement while speaking during a press conference on Wednesday.
President Solih has also decided to close Maldivian borders and ban all inbound passengers effective March 27th. Since no passengers are allowed entry, President Solih noted that the current situation could be referred to as a lockdown.
He further assured that the government will work to make sure none of the essential services such as telecommunications and utilities along with food supply is interrupted during the period as well.
